The five rounds
Eight questions a round, two easy rounds to start and the harder ones after the break, so a table that is behind at half-time is still in it. Score one point per correct answer, forty in all, plus the joker.
| Round | Theme | Questions |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | From Eden to the Promised Land | 1–8 |
| Round 2 | Judges and kings | 9–16 |
| Round 3 | Women of the Bible | 17–24 |
| Round 4 | The life of Jesus | 25–32 |
| Round 5 | Where in the Bible? | 33–40 |
The rules that stop arguments
- Teams of four to six at a table. Seven or more at one table means two teams; a family with young children can be one team with the children holding the pen.
- Each team gets one answer sheet and writes a team name on it. Phones face down for the whole quiz; a team caught looking something up scores zero for that round.
- Before round 1, each team ticks the joker box for one round on its sheet. That round scores double. It cannot be changed once round 1 starts, so a team that knows its kings from its prophets plays the joker on round 2.
- Read each question and its four options twice, then give thirty seconds. Teams write the letter (A to D), not the words; a letter cannot be argued about.
- At the end of each round, teams pass their sheet to the table on their left. Read the eight answers, each with its explanation and reference, and the table marks the sheet it holds: a tick or a cross, and the round total in the box. Sheets go back to their owners, who check the marking.
- Any dispute is settled by opening the reference and reading it aloud. The text decides, not the quizmaster and not this page.
- Write every team’s running total on a whiteboard or a large sheet after each round, jokers included. Scores on the wall keep the room in the game.
The team answer sheet
One sheet per team, on one page: a box for each answer, a joker box per round and a line for the round score. Download the answer sheet (PDF, one page) and print one per table, or print this table.
| Round | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Q5 | Q6 | Q7 | Q8 | Joker | Score |

The ninety-minute plan
Timed for about forty people at eight tables. Each round is about six minutes of questions and three of swapping and marking; a bigger room needs longer to mark, not longer to answer.
| Minutes | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0–10 | People arrive and find tables. Hand out one answer sheet and one pen per team. Teams choose a name and tick their joker. |
| 10–13 | Welcome, the rules in one minute (thirty seconds a question, letters only, phones down, swap to the left), and a short prayer if that is your custom. |
| 13–24 | Round 1. About forty-five seconds a question read twice, then swap, mark and return (three minutes). |
| 24–35 | Round 2. Scores on the board. |
| 35–46 | Round 3. Scores on the board. |
| 46–60 | Break: food, drinks, a chance for the quizmaster to check the board. Read out the standings at the end of it. |
| 60–71 | Round 4. |
| 71–82 | Round 5. Final marking. |
| 82–90 | Final scores with jokers, tie-breaker if needed, prizes, and read the explanation for the question most tables got wrong. |
How many teams, and who you need
| People | Teams | Helpers | Marking |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8–15 | 2–3 teams | One quizmaster | Quizmaster marks every sheet; skip the swap |
| 16–40 | 4–8 teams | Quizmaster and one scorer at the board | Swap to the left |
| 41–80 | 8–14 teams | Quizmaster with a microphone, a scorer, one runner | Swap to the left; the runner collects sheets for the scorer |
| 80+ | Split into two rooms or two nights | One quizmaster per room | Each room keeps its own board |
Tie-breaker
If two teams are level after round 5, ask one closest-number question. Each team writes a number; the nearest wins. Two to choose from, with the answer in the text:
- How many years did Methuselah live? 969 Genesis 5:27
- How many years did the children of Israel live in Egypt, according to Exodus? 430 Exodus 12:40
What to have on the night
- One answer sheet per team, plus three spare (printed from the link below the questions)
- One pen per team, and a few spares
- The questions with answers: this page on a phone or tablet, or the PDF printed for the quizmaster only
- A Bible for the quizmaster, for disputes
- A whiteboard, flip chart or large sheet of paper for the scores
- A timer for the thirty seconds (any phone)
- Prizes for first place and for last place, if your group likes that
- Food and drinks for the break
Why these forty
All forty come from the question bank behind Kingdom Bible Quiz, the app this site belongs to, where every question has a difficulty level and a review verdict. We kept easy and medium questions about people, places and events, and left out anything that depends on one translation’s wording or where a second option could be defended from the text. None of the forty is on this site’s adults, youth group or kids pages, so they can be used in the same season. Every reference was fetched from the World English Bible text served by bible-api.com and read on the day the page was written; each explanation says what the passage records, not how any church reads it. Where a translation’s wording differs (mercy seat or atonement cover, shoes or sandals), the explanation says so.
When this is not the page you want
If you want a night of mixed games rather than a straight quiz (charades, a Scripture hunt, a relay), our sister site has eight church game night ideas with rules and a run sheet, and its quiz round can use these questions. For teenagers only, use the Bible trivia for youth groups page, which has an open-Bible round. For a room of keen Bible readers, the Bible trivia for adults questions are harder. For children under about eleven, the Bible quiz for kids is the better fit, and the Bible quizzes page has a quiz for every book if you want a round on one book.
If you would rather have every table answer on their phones, the Kingdom Bible Quiz app’s Together tab plays one quiz on everyone’s phone and shows the results at the end; it is optional, and everything on this page works on paper.
Questions people ask
How hard are these questions?
They are the easy and medium levels of the question bank they come from, about well-known people, places and events, so that every table in a mixed room can answer some of each round. If your group wants harder questions, swap in rounds from the Bible trivia for adults page, which has twenty medium and twenty hard questions.
How long does a Bible trivia game night take?
About ninety minutes for five rounds of eight with a fourteen-minute break, as in the plan above. Each round takes about eleven minutes: six for the questions and three to swap and mark, plus time to update the board. For sixty minutes, play three rounds and drop the break.
Should people play in teams or on their own?
Teams. One sheet per table means people talk, the quieter ones get heard, and nobody sits alone with a blank page. Individual play works only for a group of under eight.
What is a joker in a trivia night?
A team ticks the joker box for one round on its answer sheet before the quiz starts, and its score for that round counts double. It rewards a team for knowing where it is strong, and it keeps the scores close until the end.
Can I print this, and do I need to sign up?
Yes, and no. The answer sheet prints on one page for each team. The questions print with the answer key on separate pages, for the quizmaster. There is no sign-up, no email and nothing held back.
What if I think an answer is wrong?
Open the reference in your own Bible; the text wins over this page. Every reference was fetched and read on the day the page was written, but if you find a mistake, trust the Bible and tell us through the app’s support page.
